This mainly depends on underlying rates of interest on two currencies in your pair. Your interest rate would also depend on how long you can hold a forex position. How long can you keep a forex position open? A trader can hold a position for as long as a few seconds (or less) to a few years in the forex market. There is no limit in the position holding period in forex. Factors for holding a forex position How long can you hold a position in forex? Here we have mentioned a few examples below, where we will present the most accurate ways of calculating the total amount that needs to be charged or credited. While you might only factor in the broker’s commission and interest rates, there are many other factors on which the storage for holding an overnight position would depend. The answer here is that you can do it as long as you’d like to! Daily entry: The minimum holding time for this is 1 day to the maximum time of around a few weeks These are somewhat typical holding times and what has been approached and traded before as well. Most people typically close their trades by the day’s end or at least the week’s back end. Then the following week, you can look out for re-entry if the trade appears to be good. There are various times, such as GBP and USD pairs, where you’re able to hold forex trades for the long term with the trading time of days and weeks. All these trades are quite good options to get you moving, then only being with stop loss, so here you’re able to lock in profits throughout the day. Later on, you can also trade retracements as this would be the only way for hedging. Of course, if you’ve approached foremost resistance, plenty of options would be available for you. While closing out on profits at this time, you can move the stop loss like it was mentioned before. As always, you can make sure that you trade on demo levels before you’re thinking of trying on a few new strategies. A lot of options are available for twin trading when you have a demo account.
